Development Sweden #92. AMREF’s chair awarded herself double salary

The chairperson of AMREF Nordic was involved in appointing herself as acting Secretary-General. She then received a salary twice as high as that of the permanent Secretary-General.

When the new Secretary-General, Louise Lindfors, later objected to the arrangement, she was sacked. AMREF Nordic is now under scrutiny by Svensk insamlingskontroll. As a result, the organisation may lose its fundraising account. Also in this issue, Sida has made a U-turn and signed a new agreement with the monitoring organisation Swedwatch. And the liberal foundation SILC risks having to close down if the Liberal Party is voted out of the Riksdag following the September election.

Development Sweden provides you with exclusive insight into everything happening in Swedish aid policy every other week.
