Global Bar Magazine receives the Anna Lindh Award

Global Bar Magazine is one of two recipients of the 2025 Anna Lindh Award. The magazine receives the price for its work in bringing more voices from around the world to the table.
”In times when independent media is constantly under attack, the award is also a recognition of the importance of investigative and in-depth journalism,” says Global Bar Magazine’s editor-in-chief David Isaksson.

Since 2004, the Anna Lindh Memorial Fund has awarded prizes and scholarships to people who have worked in the spirit of Anna Lindh. This year’s second prize goes to the Ukrainian resistance fighter Larysa Fesenko, who refused to become a Russian collaborator.

In the motivation for the award to Global Bar Magazine, the jury wrote:

Global Bar Magazine is mainly non-profit but is nevertheless Sweden’s leading news source for global issues – with a particular focus on development issues in the Global South, Agenda 2030, aid, sustainability, and human rights.

The journalistic work is also conveyed through podcasts (Global Podd) and gatherings (Global Bar) that together convey perspectives that are often overlooked, thus promoting a deeper understanding of a changing world.

The fact that voices from all over the world are constantly heard reflects the values that Anna Lindh stood for, not least her pursuit of global justice, dialogue, and a world where human dignity is the foundation. For this important work, Global Bar Magazine receives the 2025 Anna Lindh Memorial Organization Award.

”Highlighting other voices and giving more people a voice is really at the heart of what we do. That is why we are extremely pleased to receive this award. In times where independent media is constantly under attack, the award is also a recognition of the importance of journalism that scrutinizes and goes in depth, says Global Bar Magazine’s editor-in-chief David Isaksson.
